Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce Launches Innovative Program to Help Smokers Quit And Be Free At Last!
Commit to Quit Smoking Program Offered Through Partnership with
MRCC Member Positive Results Hypnosis of Marlborough
Marlborough, MA – In conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s annual Great American Smokeout campaign, the president and CEO of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce, Susanne Morreale Leeber, announced an innovative new local program for members, their employees and families, and the greater Marlborough community. Through a business partnership with Positive Results Hypnosis, the Chamber is hosting stop smoking clinics to be offered at the Chamber conference room, or via member-sponsored sessions at their organization.
“Our goal is twofold,” said Leeber, “we want to help our member companies and all businesses in the community to lower their healthcare costs and achieve their wellness goals wherever possible through member to member programs, and also want to help smokers quit smoking and get healthier.” Smokers and employers are facing increases in healthcare insurance, and employers incur a high cost associated with the employee who smokes. “It’s really no longer something that is acceptable in the work place, and this program is designed to help the motivated smoker become a non-smoker for the rest of their life.”
Always held on the third Thursday of November each year, The Great American Smokeout, which started in Randolph, MA in 1974 has grown into a national effort to get smokers to quit smoking for one day. As stated at Cancer.org, smokers may use the date to make a plan to quit, or plan in advance and then quit smoking that day. The event challenges people to stop using tobacco and helps people know about the many tools they can use to quit and stay quit.
In the time it takes to watch a good movie, a motivated smoker who wants to quit can use the power of their own mind to make a life changing decision and let go of any urge, craving or thought of smoking. “Although it is usually a last resort for smokers,” said Bob Martel, Certified Consulting Hypnotist and President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Guild of Hypnotists, “hypnosis is a drug-free, safe, proven and widely accepted method to help a smoker take back control and end a nasty habit. Many doctors today are discovering that hypnosis really works and they are recommending hypnosis to their patients who smoke.” According to Martel, “nicotine leaves the body within 48-72 hours and then it is simply rewiring the mind to release a bad habit and respond differently to the thought of smoking, should it even arise.”
The program will run through the months of December and January to help people start the next year as a non-smoker. The program is open to anyone in the community wanting to quit smoking. The fee for the Commit to Quit program is only $99.00 per person, for small group sessions and includes a free support audio CD to help the non-smoker to stay a non-smoker. Smokers may also schedule private sessions. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce to support community programs.
