The
Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce
is a not-for-profit, private organization
that provides:
- A forum and
resources for business people to experience
individual and collective growth
- Education through
Seminars, Breakfasts and the Small Business
Development Center from Clark University
- Legislative
Advocacy and Economic Development that will
ultimately result in cohesive regional success
through the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership
This Chamber has
been serving the community since 1924. We
work side by side with public officials,
business people and citizens to make the
region a better place to live, work and play.
In 1965 the Chamber
donated the tower on the Union Common, which
houses the John Brown Bell. In 1999, to celebrate
the Chamber’s 75th Anniversary, the Chamber
donated funds to construct a gazebo in front
of the Walker Building as a symbol of our continuing
commitment to the local community.
We have created
the Marlborough Regional
Chamber of Commerce Foundation. As a 501(c)(3)
non-profit corporation, it is legally empowered
to collect tax-exempt contributions and disburse
the funds in support of non-profit community
activities.
Officers and directors of the Foundation are
drawn from the membership of the Marlborough
Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Foundation
is a community resource for business and civic
organizations in the areas of fundraising, education,
and business and economic development.
The Marlborough
Regional Chamber of Commerce continues
to grow steadily and represents more the 750
business members. Our growth has been accomplished
through quality—we are accredited by the
U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Only a small minority
of Chambers of Commerce across the country—about
15%—have achieved this prestigious honor.
Accreditation is best compared to an ISO Certification
in the business world. This achievement validates
us as a superior Chamber of Commerce, fully
prepared to serve our members and community.
The Chamber's many
committees and
task forces work diligently to address city
and state legislative issues. The School/Business
Partnership Committee presents at least $2000
in scholarships to graduating seniors as one
major part of their initiatives annually.
You will realize
that by combining the strength of our members
with local and state government we have taken
advantage of our geographic location. This makes
the Marlborough region one of the most dynamic
economic growth areas of the state and New England,
further exemplifying the Chamber's motto:
Working
Together Works Better!
Mission
Our mission is
to promote and advocate for our members’
business and civic interests and to collaborate
with the communities for the overall economic
benefit of the region. Are You Connected?
Marlborough Regional
Chamber of Commerce provides leadership and
acts as a salesperson for ideas, working in
concert with other organizations and government
to make the community a better place to work
and live. The Chamber has been an active participant
in recent public discussions about issues such
as highway and rail transportation, car pool
incentives, the regional shopping mall, and
commercial and personal property tax rate.
We are pleased
to report that our active participation in improving
transportation in this area is now paying off.
The new Route I-495 connector - exit 23C - and
the Lift 7 bus service are just two of the recent
improvements that will greatly enhance ease
of travel locally and make our area more people-friendly
and business-friendly. With our encouragement,
new businesses continue to arrive and flourish,
and the new addition at the U Mass Memorial
Marlborough Hospital will further add to what
our community can offer. |
